Today, Emma and I spent most of our day in the lab working to get data ready for the workshop. We had lunch with the workshop committee and Johnathan at a local eatery. It was an open air restaurant and we enjoyed a traditional Ethiopian meal and traditionally prepared coffee.
Here is the outdoor restaurant.
Wonderfully we discovered there was a bathroom on the same floor as the spatial lab, but it was a squatty-potty. Not that I am complaining, but I have used one in a few years. It was clean – yeah!
In the evening we worked a little and the Bascom’s found the Monaco track and field championships – which they said never ever happens, so they experienced a little joy unlike any other for a while. In the 5000 meter race, Richard Willis’s son Nick from Australia raced. Richard has taught at Calvin twice, once for Johnathan Bascom, and Nick won the silver medal in the Beijing Olympics. It was fun to see him race with such enthusiasm from the Bascom’s!
I went to bed and spent most of the night with stomach pains and the like….you can imagine….
